Get acquainted with your bike! If you are currently a rider or aspiring to be one, we have a trip for you! We have a wide variety of trips to meet the needs of riders ranging from beginner to advanced. Please be prepared to bring your bike to all trips/classes. If you don't have a bike, we rent them! Check out our equipment rental page for prices and details.
All mountain biking trips with pre-trip meetings will be held at 6:00pm at the Peak Adventures office at the University Union. For questions, please call us at 916.278.6321.
Prices are listed as Sac State Student/Faculty and Staff/General Public. Please be prepared to show your One Card to qualify for student or staff prices.
Basic Mountain Biking
This ride is geared for beginning or advanced riders who want to improve their mountain biking skills. We will cover all the riding basics needed to safely travel down the trail via two wheels. Oh yeah, and have some fun, too!
Instruction will cover riding techniques (successful gearing, brake modulation, ratcheting, etc.) repair, safety, gear, trail etiquette, and much more. This trip welcomes riders of all abilities. Cost includes transportation to a local riding area and instruction from experienced and friendly guides.

Angel Island Exploration
This is the perfect opportunity for you to get acquainted with mountain biking and to see San Francisco Bay from a new perspective. Angel Island lies in the middle of the Bay and offers some of the best views. We will travel with our bikes to Tiberon, hop on a ferry, and cruise across Raccoon Straits to Ayala Cove. There we will explore some of the island's historic ruins on our bikes. Price includes transportation, ferry fees, and experienced guides.

Moab Mountain Biking
Join us on an adventure to mountain biking Mecca!The days will be filled with dazzling adventures on endless sandstone single track, including Poison Spider Mesa, Porcupine Rim, the famous Slick Rock Trail and many more. Some of the rides include breathtaking vistas and geological features that will dazzle your senses. You will even see actual dinosaur tracks and petroglyphs on a few of the trails. You will be staying within walking distance of Main street Moab, where there is lots to do in the way of shopping and plenty of fast food for your after-ride snacks.
We will take a day off during the week to explore Arches National Monument on foot, witnessing some of North Americas greatest geological landscapes.
The level of riding ability required for this trip is intermediate. If you have questions about your ability and whether or not this trip is for you, give us a call and we'll be glad to explain the trip in more detail. The price of the trip includes transportation, lodging, experienced guides, mechanical support, park fees and group equipment. Reservations are required early, so don't miss out!

Basic Bike Maintenance Class
This class is "geared" to serve the beginner and average rider. Special attention is given to the basics of user maintenance and simple repairs with the minimum of tools. Curriculum includes routine maintenance, cleaning, flat repairs, brake and gear adjustments, trail repairs, and ergonomics. You will become a better rider by understanding your bicycle's needs and capabilities. Bring your own bike to practice on, so we can advise you on its specific needs. Space is limited to four students for individual attention. Total instruction time is six hours, with a break for lunch.

Advanced Bike Maintenance Class
This 6-week intensive advanced bike maintenance class will teach you everything you need to know about your bike and how to work on it. We will cover everything from wheel truing to bearing overhauls; shifting and braking systems are also covered. This class is tailored to the students who enroll so that everyone gets the most out of the class.
This class uses the Park Tool School curriculum, but goes into even more depth in some places. Time permitting, we will cover bike ergonomics and suspension tuning/design as well. While enrolled, repair class students will receive a 15% discount (includes student discount) on any parts and accessories they wish to buy through Peak Adventures.
* Option: You may also opt to purchase the AK-32 Advanced Mechanic Tool Kit from Park Tool. Regularly $295 for a one-time deal of $240 with enrollment of the Advanced Bike Maintenance Class.
